Some Truths about Spider and Insect Phobias
Fear of spiders, arachnophobia, or any phobia, consists of various elements, or aspects. For instance, it could be fear of it jumping, fear of being in the same room as it, fear of their legs, and so on.
No matter what aspects contribute to your fear of spiders, fear of insects or other animals, or indeed any other phobia, they are experienced by a feeling you don't like, something that feels wrong, whether it manifests as heart palpitations, feeling sick, lightheaded or many of the other manifestations.
Now this feeling is caused by your brain's fear centre, the amygdala, your adrenal glands, and a few other body components. Everyone is familiar with the fight-or-flight reaction. This is a real feeling caused by your brain and body organs resonding to fear in an inappropriate way. It is this excess, or inapproropriate fear response that we release from your mind and body.
For some people a phobia is a symptom of a deeper problem that requires time to solve, and many people often come to us needlessly dismissed by a less experienced therapist, just because it took longer than one session. However the good news is that most phobias are easy to overcome. This is done with a mixture of psychology and energy treatments such NLP (neuro-linguistic programming) and EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques). Whilst many phobias can be over in just one session, sometimes it takes longer. It depends upon many conditions, and this can be determined at the initial consultation stage.
There is no benefit whatsoever in forcing yourself to face your fear. That is barbaric and pointless. We use modern energy psychology techniques as featured on TV programs like Tricia, where you are calm and in control at all times. You may even be pleasantly surprised to enjoy the treatment.
How much should you invest in your freedom from this fear?
